Halton Arp's
The Atlas of Peculiar Galaxies was published in 1966, just 40 years after the discovery that galaxies were independent star systems. Here are Arp's original plates including Arp 286 using the 200" telescope at Mount Palomar with a comparison to my effort with a 10" telescope, 2020. Amazing we can get anywhere near. Technology 54 years on.
