Third time lucky. After two quality control nightmares from Germany which gave stars like this (yes, this is without the mirror clips)
Finally, a sample which worked - a French import. I say worked, but Quattro and other low end SkyWatcher owners will tell you worked in the SkyWatcher sense is extremely relative. This one needed just a couple of hours of hacking to bring it close to imaging standard. Alas, no Quattro focuser but hey, stars which are free of that awful diffraction even with the mirror clips in place; one can't expect miracles.
First light. Impossible to balance on an eq8 but a few lengths of rigid box section aluminium later...
